Samsung's One UI 8.5 update quietly introduces a more accessible version of a familiar feature. Inside the Connected Devices menu, users will now find an option called "Audio Broadcast" renamed and repositioned version of the Auracast broadcasting tool that first appeared in One UI 6.1.
What Is Audio Broadcast in One UI 8.5?
Audio Broadcast works on top of Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast technology. It lets a Galaxy device stream music or voice to anyone nearby who wants to tune in. The most notable aspect is that there is no cap on how many listeners can join as long as they are within range of the Auracast signal, they can connect. This makes it particularly well-suited for headphone parties or silent discos, where multiple people listen to the same audio through their own earbuds without any external speakers.
How to Set Up Audio Broadcast on Samsung Galaxy
To start broadcasting from a Galaxy phone running One UI 8.5, go to Settings → Connected Devices → Audio Broadcast. From there, you can set a broadcast name, add a password for privacy, and choose whether to stream media audio or your voice. Listeners follow the same path but switch to the Listen tab instead. Joining is also possible by scanning a QR code generated by the broadcasting device.
Which Samsung Devices Support One UI 8.5 Audio Broadcast?
Not every Samsung device supports this feature. Here is the full compatibility list:
Earbuds: Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and newer
Phones and Tablets: Galaxy S23, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Galaxy A54, Galaxy Tab S9 series and newer
Laptops: Galaxy Book 3 Pro, Pro 360, 360, Ultra, and newer models
Devices still running older One UI versions can still access the same Auracast feature through Settings → Connections → Bluetooth → More options → Broadcast sound using Auracast.
Is This Feature New?
Not entirely. Audio Broadcast is an updated presentation of the Auracast broadcasting feature Samsung introduced with One UI 6.1. What changed in One UI 8.5 is its visibility it now sits directly inside the Connected Devices menu, making it far easier to discover and use without digging through Bluetooth settings.
One UI 8.5 is currently rolling out to more Galaxy devices globally, so if you do not see the feature yet, system update should bring it to your device soon.
