Samsung has started rolling out the One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy A16 5G, bringing a wave of new features and a refreshed interface to one of its most popular entry-level phones. The update is currently live in India and Indonesia, carrying firmware version A166PXXU7DZE2 with a download size of approximately 2.3GB. Along with the new features, it also delivers the May 2026 security patch.
If you own a Galaxy A16 5G in either of these two countries, you can grab the update right now by going to Settings, then Software update, and tapping Download and install. Once the download is complete, tap Install now to begin. Make sure you have at least 30% battery before starting the process.
What Is New in One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy A16 5G?
The update brings a noticeably refreshed visual design to the interface, introducing more transparency and blur effects throughout the system. The Quick Panel is now fully customizable, giving users more control over how their shortcuts and toggles are arranged. Samsung has also added more lock screen clock font options and automatic lock screen layouts, along with additional downloadable wallpapers.
The Weather app has been improved with a new pollen index display and weather-themed effects for alarm backgrounds. The Clock app now includes a built-in time zone converter, removing the need for third-party tools when dealing with international schedules. Direct Voicemail has also been added to the phone's calling features.
Screen mirroring has become more convenient with the ability to create shortcuts directly to frequently used wireless display devices, making it faster to connect to a TV or monitor without navigating through settings each time.
Samsung Health and Galaxy Watch Integration
Samsung Health received meaningful additions with this update. Users can now share workout statistics with more options than before. Additionally, antioxidant measurements and meditation sessions can now be launched directly from a connected Galaxy Watch, making health tracking more seamless between the phone and wearable.
Battery and Device Care Improvements
The Device Care section now provides more detailed battery information, giving users a clearer picture of their battery health and usage patterns. This is particularly useful for Galaxy A16 5G owners who rely on the phone heavily throughout the day.
Samsung Internet and Productivity Updates
Samsung Internet's New Tab page has been redesigned and now supports displaying tabs that are open on the user's other Samsung Galaxy devices, making it easier to continue browsing sessions across multiple screens without manual syncing.
On the productivity side, Samsung Notes now supports inserting tables directly within notes. The Calculator app gains a proactive calculation feature that reads content copied to the clipboard and suggests relevant calculations automatically. One UI 8.5 brings Theft Protection to the Galaxy A16 5G, a feature designed to make the device harder to use or sell if it is stolen. Users can also now temporarily disable Auto Blocker when needed, offering more flexibility for those who install apps outside the Galaxy Store on occasion.
