Google may release Android 17 today or any time this week. After months of beta testing, the stable release of Android 17 is now imminent, and Pixel owners should have the update available very soon.
How Google Got Here
Google switched to a dual-release schedule last year with Android 16 instead of pushing out a single major update a year. Following the new strategy, Google pushes a major release around Q2 followed by a minor release later in the year. Android 17 follows this same approach.
Surprisingly, Google did not release any Developer Preview builds for Android 17 and moved directly to the public beta.
Full Beta Release Timeline
| Android 17 | Release Date |
|---|---|
| Beta 1 | February 13, 2026 |
| Beta 2 | February 26, 2026 |
| Beta 3 | March 26, 2026 |
| Beta 4 | April 16, 2026 |
| Beta 4.1 | June 1, 2026 |
| Stable | Second week of June (expected) |
Beta 4.1 landed on June 1 and is expected to be the final beta. The next build will likely be the stable release. Google usually releases a new Android OS on a Tuesday, which makes June 9 a likely date. If not today, the update will most likely arrive any day this week.
Which Pixel Devices Will Get Android 17
Android 17 will be a significant upgrade, especially for newer models like the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10, which are confirmed to receive major AI upgrades. Even for older Pixels, there are plenty of improvements and some exciting features to look forward to.
If you are unsure whether your Pixel is eligible, Google's official list of supported devices covers all Pixels currently within their update window. Pixel 6 and newer models are expected to qualify for the Android 17 rollout, given Google's seven-year update commitment for current-generation devices.
What to Do Now
If you are on the Android 17 beta, the stable build should roll out to your device automatically. If you are on the standard release channel, go to Settings, then System, then System update to check manually once Google pushes the rollout button.
