Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra Keeps the Same Battery But Gets a New Chip

Samsung is not planning a battery capacity upgrade for the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, according to fresh supply chain information from GalaxyClub. The upcoming flagship tablet will reportedly carry an 11,600mAh battery with a rated capacity of 11,374mAh, identical to what the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra shipped with. Charging speed is also expected to hold steady at 45W.

On the surface, that sounds like a letdown. But the more significant development is what is powering the tablet.

Reports suggest the Galaxy Tab S12 series will run on MediaTek's Dimensity 9500, a 3nm chipset built on TSMC's 3NP process. This is a notable shift from Samsung's typical Exynos or Snapdragon approach for its flagship tablets.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500 is built around three CPU clusters, one fast ARM C1-Ultra core clocked at up to 4.2GHz, three C1 Premium cores at up to 3.5GHz, and four C1 Pro efficiency cores at up to 2.7GHz. In Geekbench 6 testing, it scores approximately 3,177 in single-core and 9,701 in multi-core. MediaTek claims the chip is up to 42% more efficient for graphics workloads thanks to the new Mali G1 Ultra GPU.

On the AI side, the Dimensity 9500 delivers on-device processing for 3-billion parameter LLMs with 128K token support and 4K AI image generation, all without relying on cloud connectivity.

The practical implication is that even with the same battery capacity, the Tab S12 Ultra could deliver noticeably better battery life in real-world use if the Dimensity 9500's efficiency advantages translate from benchmarks to sustained workloads.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra alongside the Tab S12 Plus sometime in September 2026. Pricing and full specifications have not been officially confirmed.
