Samsung has kicked off the May 2026 Wear OS firmware rollout for its Galaxy Watch lineup. The update went live on June 8 in South Korea, with Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, and Watch 7 among the first devices to receive it.
Galaxy Watch models follow a quarterly update schedule, and this release comes after the March rollout that delivered the February security patch.
Devices Receiving the Update
Three watch models are confirmed for the initial rollout:
- Galaxy Watch 8 (firmware: AZE1)
- Galaxy Watch 8 Classic
- Galaxy Watch 7 (firmware: BZE1)
Galaxy Watch 6, Watch 5, and Watch 4 are expected to follow within the next couple of days as Samsung expands the rollout.
What the Update Fixes
Samsung addressed 39 security vulnerabilities in its May 2026 security package. The specific items patched on smartwatch models may differ from what was addressed on Galaxy smartphones, as the watch firmware targets Wear OS-specific components. Beyond security fixes, the update delivers standard system cache cleanup, removal of unnecessary files, and general optimizations to system stability and health tracking reliability.
How to Install the Update
Updates can be installed through the Galaxy Wearable app on your paired phone or directly from the watch itself. To check via the app, open Galaxy Wearable, go to Watch settings, then tap Watch software update. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
