Google is preparing to release Android 17 before the end of June, and Samsung's rollout plan is already taking shape. Every Galaxy phone receiving Android 17 will also get the new One UI 9 software Samsung's Android 17 update and One UI 9 are the same package. With Samsung's 4 to 7 year major update promise covering a wide range of devices, the number of eligible phones is genuinely large.
How Samsung's Android 17 Rollout Will Work
Samsung does not push major Android updates to all devices on the same day. Flagship Galaxy S and Z series phones get it first. Mid-range and budget A, M, and F series devices follow, sometimes several months later. The exact timing also varies by region and carrier, so two people with the same phone may receive the update weeks apart depending on where they live.

Current Status: Beta Is Already Live
As of early June, the One UI 9 beta based on Android 17 is already running for Galaxy S26 series owners in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, India, and Poland. Galaxy S26 owners in those countries can join through the Samsung Members app to test new features ahead of the stable release.
The stable One UI 9 release is expected in July, most likely launching alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 at Galaxy Unpacked. After that, the update rolls out to the S25 and S24 series, then the S23 series and older foldables, followed by mid-range models through the rest of the year.
Before installing the update when it arrives, back up your phone's data. Major Android updates are generally reliable but taking a backup beforehand is always the right habit.
