Samsung is working on a new rugged tablet, and it will not be arriving anytime soon. The Galaxy Tab Active 6 has been confirmed to be in development, with a launch window set for early 2027.
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 launched nearly two and a half years ago, and Samsung's typical refresh cycle for the Active series runs close to three years. That timeline lines up with the 2027 target, and it also suggests that the new model should bring significant hardware upgrades over its predecessor rather than a minor generational refresh.
For international markets, the Galaxy Tab Active 6 will carry model number SM-X316B. It will be available with 5G cellular connectivity. Beyond that, Samsung has not revealed specifications, design details, or pricing at this stage.
Given the three-year gap between Active series generations, the Tab Active 6 is expected to arrive with a newer processor, updated camera hardware, improved rugged certifications, and likely One UI running on the latest version of Android available at the time of launch.
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 and Tab Active 5 Pro both recently received the stable One UI 8.5 update, keeping the current generation current while Samsung works on its successor behind the scenes.
Full details on the Tab Active 6 are expected to surface closer to its 2027 launch window.
