Samsung Galaxy A36 Gets First Post-One UI 8.5 Update With May 2026 Security Patch

Samsung has released the first software update for the Galaxy A36 since the stable One UI 8.5 rollout last month. The update delivers the May 2026 security patch, fixing 36 security vulnerabilities in the previous firmware. It carries the firmware version A366EXXSACZE3 and is 432.82MB in size. The rollout is currently confirmed in India, with broader availability expected to follow. The update is a maintenance release it does not introduce new features and corrects the fact that the original One UI 8.5 package shipped with the older April 2026 patch rather than May's. Users can install it by going to Settings, then Software update, and tapping Download and install. Looking ahead, the Galaxy A36 is eligible for One UI 9.0, which is currently in beta testing with no confirmed release date yet.

Samsung has started rolling out stable One UI 8.5 to the Galaxy F17 with firmware E176BXXU5CZE9 at 2,521.67MB and the Galaxy F16 with firmware E166PXXU5DZE2 at 2,400.79MB, beginning in India. The update brings a refreshed interface with transparency effects, improved Bixby with Perplexity integration and Conversation History, three new film-style camera filters, new lock screen clock fonts and wallpapers, a time zone converter in Clock, a pollen index in Weather, early Reminders alerts, table support in Samsung Notes, proactive Calculator suggestions, a redesigned Device Care battery view, and Theft Protection. Full Galaxy AI features are not available on F-series hardware. Update available via Settings and Software update.
